Belfast

I was amazed by the tidiness in Belfast, when I arrived after a two hour bus ride from Dublin. Maybe it was just the impression in the city center. But anyway, the city is doing a lot to attract tourists. And Belfast has a multifaceted history. What you can see on the first picture is the original place, where the TITANIC was built, the new museum in the back and the gantry cranes Samson and Goliath on the left. If you explore the city more in the north you stumble upon memorial parks, which reminds you of the long bloody lasting conflict in the last century. The picture below shows the Memorial Garden in Bombay Street, one of the hot spots of violence.  

Ich war überrascht von der Sauberkeit in Belfast, als ich nach einer zweistündigen Busfahrt von Dublin in der Innenstadt ausstieg. Vielleicht war es auch nur der Eindruck in der Innenstadt. Die Stadt tut sehr viel für den Tourismus. Und Belfast hat eine vielfältige Geschichte. Auf dem Bild oben sind die Überreste der Werft zu sehen, in der die TITANIC gebaut wurde, mit dem neuen Museum im Hintergrund und links den Hebekränen Samson und Goliath. Wenn du im Norden der Stadt unterwegs bist, stößt du auf zahlreiche Erinnerungsgärten, die an den lang andauernden Konflikt im letzten Jahrhundert erinnern sollen. From Bray to Greystones

Don't know what to do on a sunny saturday or sunday afternoon? A marvellous two hour walk from Bray to Greystones (or other way around) pays off. You walk along Cliff Manor and may see sometimes a train rolling by underneath the way. But couldn't find out why there are two tunnel entrances (can you see them on the picture?)

Keine Ahnung, was man an einem sonnigen Samstag oder Sonntag nachmittag machen soll? Ein wunderbarer zweistündiger Spaziergang von Bray nach Greystones (oder anders rum) lohnt sich. Du läufst entlang der Manor Cliffs und kannst ab und an einen Zug vorbeirollen sehen. Konnte aber noch nicht herausbekommen, warum es zwei Tunnel Eingänge gibt (kannst du Sie auf dem Bild erkennen?)

Siempre Roma

No River Liffey, but River Tiber! Training week in Rome and a good occasion to eat great Pizza and drink a good glass of wine. I was almost every night for dinner in Trastevere, which is linked by Ponte Sisto from the old town, and a vibrant night life place. Night Sightseeing can pay off, as you flee the crowds and the afternoon sun!

Kein Liffey, dafür aber der Tiber! Die Trainingswoche in Rom, ist eine gute Gelegenheit lecker Pizza Essen zu gehn und ein gutes Glas Wein zu trinken. Ich war fast jeden Abend in Trastevere, das man über den Ponte Sisto von der Altstadt erreichen kann, und ein pulsierendes Nachtleben bietet. Ein Nacht-Stadtrundgang kann sich lohnen, da man den Menschenmassen und der Mittagshitze entfliehen kann!
