Belfast

I was amazed by the tidiness in Belfast, when I arrived after a two hour bus ride from Dublin. Maybe it was just the impression in the city center. But anyway, the city is doing a lot to attract tourists. And Belfast has a multifaceted history. What you can see on the first picture is the original place, where the TITANIC was built, the new museum in the back and the gantry cranes Samson and Goliath on the left. If you explore the city more in the north you stumble upon memorial parks, which reminds you of the long bloody lasting conflict in the last century. The picture below shows the Memorial Garden in Bombay Street, one of the hot spots of violence.  

Ich war überrascht von der Sauberkeit in Belfast, als ich nach einer zweistündigen Busfahrt von Dublin in der Innenstadt ausstieg. Vielleicht war es auch nur der Eindruck in der Innenstadt. Die Stadt tut sehr viel für den Tourismus. Und Belfast hat eine vielfältige Geschichte. Auf dem Bild oben sind die Überreste der Werft zu sehen, in der die TITANIC gebaut wurde, mit dem neuen Museum im Hintergrund und links den Hebekränen Samson und Goliath. Wenn du im Norden der Stadt unterwegs bist, stößt du auf zahlreiche Erinnerungsgärten, die an den lang andauernden Konflikt im letzten Jahrhundert erinnern sollen.
