Newgrange

The tomb of Newgrange was likely built 3.200 BC and is just an hour bus ride in the north of Dublin. Be early to assure you can enter the tomb with a guide, as access is limited. It is even nicer, when the weather is fine and the sky clear. Lucky me! Still room for Interpretations, Newgrange is a hotspot on ther winter solistice, as at this time the sun directly enlightens the vault. So did it serve as a calender?

Das Ganggrab von Newgrange wurde ca. 3.200 v.Ch. erbaut und ist in einer Stunde von Dublin mit dem Bus erreichbar. Früh sein lohnt sich, denn der Zugang ist limitiert.Was Newgrange wirklich war, lässt Platz für Interpretationen. Aber um die Wintersonnenwende rum, flutet das Sonnenlicht die Grabkammer in Gänze.  Könnte damit als Kalender gedient haben.
