Building again

Irony of history. The new building for the central bank of Ireland was supposed to be the headoffice of Anglo Irish Bank. Anyway developments progress in the city and will transform the picture of the city. Fingers crossed, no developper will go bust!

Ironie der Geschichte. Wo einst Büros der Pleite-Bank Anglo Irish hätte entstehen sollen, vervollständigt die irische Zentralbank jetzt ihr neues Bürogebäude. Neue Projektentwicklungen werden aus dem Boden gestampft und verändern das Stadtbild. Drücken wir die Daumen, dass kein Entwickler pleite geht.

Kilmainham Gaol

The early bird catches the worm. Access to the Kilmainham Gaol is limited and when I once tried to get in at 2pm all tickets and tours were already sold out. But finally another day I got in and was impressed and learnt a lot about Irish history. Probably one of the best landmarks in Dublin!

Früher Vogel fängt den Wurm. Der Zugang zum Kilmainham Gefängnis ist begrenzt und als ich Sonntags um zwei Uhr rein wollte, waren schon alle Tickets ausverkauft. Aber letztendlich konnte ich an einem anderen Tag rein und war beeindruckt, und hab viel über irische Geschichte erfahren. Wahrscheinlich die beste Sehenswürdigkeit in Dublin!

Closed shops could tell you a story from better times. I spotted this store in Thomas St. and you can find more of them across the city. However the boom is back. Highest GDP growth rates in Europe in 2015 and probably 2016 make Ireland an attractive place to be. Hopefully shop owners return and turn on the light again in the shops.

Geschlossene Geschäfte können dir ein Lied von besseren Zeiten singen. Diesen Laden habe ich in der Thomas St. entdeckt, und man kann viele dieser verlassenen Orte über die Stadt verteilt finden. Aber der Aufschwung ist zurück. Höchste BIP Wachstumsraten in Europa für 2015 und wahrscheinlich 2016 machen Irland zu einem attraktiven Standort. Hoffentlich kommen die Ladenbesitzer zurück und machen das Licht wieder an.
