The Weichens Tephaner

The Odeon is a nice spot just opposite of our office. It used to be the main station in the 19th century and is now a bar/restaurant. Business people, groups of young chicks and other stranded folks are bustling mostly at the weekend. Colleagues hang out there the last friday of a month to spend their first Euros of their salary. Yesterday I was there to have some Pints with them. I was curious about a craft beer called "Weichens Tephaner". Just see, what I got!

Das geschichtsträchtige Odeon war einst ein Hauptbahnhof mitten in Dublin und ist jetzt eine Bar/Restaurant, in dem Geschäftsleute, Mädelsgruppen oder andere gestrandete Personen umherschwirren. Es ist direkt gegenüber von unserem Office und Kollegen treffen sich jeden letzten Freitag im Monat auf ein paar Pints, um ihre ersten Euro ihres Gehaltes auszugeben. Ich war gestern auch da und wollte wissen, was hinter dem Craf Bier "Weichens Tephaner" steckt. Schau was ich bekommen habe!  

Gällischer Fussball

My first time in Croke Park, home of the GAA - the Gaelic Athletic Association. With 30,000 attendees was it not almost half full. With over 82,000 capacity, it is the biggest stadium in Ireland and fifth largest in Europe. Gaelic Football is the most favorite sport in Ireland and a mixture of soccer and rugby. I didn't get too much into the rules, but reds, yellows or greens must be wary, when the fans start singing "Come on you boys in blue" (thats the Dublin's home club).

Das erste mal im Croke Park. Das Zuhause der GAA (Gälische Football Vereinigung). Mit über 30.000 Besuchern war das Stadion nicht mal halb voll. Mit über 82.000 Fassungsvermögen, ist der Croke Park das größte Stadion in Irland und das aktuell viertgrößte Stadion Europas. Der Gälische Fussball ist der beliebteste Ballsport in Irland und eine Mischung aus Fussball und Rugby. Von den Regeln hab ich nicht viel verstanden, aber die Roten, Gelben oder Grünen müssen sich in Acht nehmen, wenn die Fans den heimischen Fanschlager anstimmen: "Auf gehts Jungs in Blau!".

The Bernard Shaw

Espresso after lunch? Or good italian food in the beergarden? I opted for both in The Bernard Shaw, just around the block from my office. They offer more music and live acts at the weekend. If you want to practice italian, go ahead! A genuine alternative from the hossy blossy tourist bars!

Ein Espresso nach dem Mittagessen? Oder italienische Mittagskarte? Ich hab mich im Bernard Shaw für beides entschieden, nicht unweit von meinem Office. Speziell an den Wochenenden wird Musik präsentiert. Wenn du italienisch sprechen willst, nur zu. Eine echte Alternative zu den "hossy blossy" Touristen Kneipen!

Guinness Storehouse

A day with my german friend in the Guinness Storehouse. You have to overcome long queues and will be charged 18 Euro (one pint included) to get inside. Not comparable to my last grand brewery visit at Herrnbräu, but you have the opportunity to draw your own Guinness with a focus on the 119.5 seconds to get it done. As Guinness would say "Good things come to those who wait".

Das Guinness Storehouse ist ein Besucher-Magnet, was die langen Schlangen bezeugen, trotz der stattlichen 18 Euro Eintritt (ein Pint inbegriffen). Zwar nicht vergleichbar mit meiner letzten großen Brauerei-Besichtigung bei Herrnbräu, aber immerhin kannst du dir ein eigenes Guinness fachmännisch zapfen. Beachte die 119.5 Sekunden für das perfekte Pint. Wie Guinness es formulieren würde "Good things come to those who wait" (soviel wie "wart´s ab, es wird schon gut").
