Vinegar Hill

On my road trip to Wexford county it was a duty to stop by Enniscorthy and Vinnegar hill. It could just be a hill nearby this little town, but it is supposed to be more and a pivotal part of irish history. Although the united Irishmen were defeated in 1798 in the battle of Vinegar Hill by the british troops, it was another big attempt in Rising against the british occupants. A nice museum in the city tells the whole story. 

Während meines Ausfluges nach Wexford County war es Pflicht für mich in Enniscorthy und dem Vinnegar Hügel anzuhalten. Es könnte ein Hügel wie jeder andere sein, aber es ist mehr und ein wichtiger Bestandteil der irischen Geschichte. Obwohl die vereinigten Irishmen 1798 dort von den britischen Truppen geschlagen wurden, war es ein weiterer wichtiger Versuch sich gegen die britischen Besatzer aufzulehnen. Ein gutes Museum in der Stadt erzählt die ganze Geschichte über die Schlacht.
